There was no sand or sea
no cold waves.
There was no ground
no sky above:
a gap yawned
and No Place of grass

From Voluspa
(The seer's prophecy - Ymir)
Track Name: IV
They went then all powerful
to the thrones of judgment,
the very high gods,
and took counsel:
if they had the Æsir
paying tribute
or they had the gods all
entitled to compensation.

He raised his spear Odin
and he hurled into the fray:
that was the battle
first in the world;
broken the wooden shelter
the fortress of the Æsir
menacing could the Vanir
set foot on the field

That was the battle
first in the world
